Malaysian singer-songwriter launches third pop album

KOTA KINABALU: Malaysian singer-songwriter and music producer Jonathan Tse launched his third pop album, ‘A Live Recording at Refuge Studios’, on Sunday.

This time, Tse decided to deviate from studio recording and produced his album by live recording.

In an interview, Tse hoped his album would achieve a sale of 5,000 copies.

His first album sold around 2,000 copies five years ago and his second album also sold around 2,000 copies.

Tse will be coming out with a DVD of his live recording next month.

“I would like to thank my fans and friends for their support and hope I’ll get more friends and followers,” he said.

Tse also runs Purpose Records, a recording label in Malaysia, as well as owns a professional recording studio, Refuge Studios and Refuge Music Academy in Kota Kinabalu.

Tse originated from Labuan and has been in Sabah for six years. Prior to that he studied and worked in Kuala Lumpur.

He has performed in various venues across Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, London, Australia, the KK Jazz Festival 2008 and 2009, Penang Jazz Festival 2010, Rock & Jazz Asia City, BB Pesta Concert, and many more.

Besides performing, Tse takes time out to work with youths in the Anglican Church and travels extensively to speak to young people and to share his music.
