Remanded for outraging modesty

SIBU: A 45-year-old Indonesian who was brought before a Magistrate’s Court here yesterday to face a charge of outraging the modesty of a girl was remanded until his next appearance in court on April 4.

Hassanuddin is charged with outraging the modesty of a girl, to wit, fondling her breast at the workers quarters of an oil palm plantation in Belaga.

The alleged offence, which he committed about 7am on Feb 19, may land him in jail for 10 years.

In an unrelated case, a 21-year-old student was fined RM300, in default of two weeks’ jail for failing to report for National Service training.

Ngu pleaded guilty to the charge filed under Section 18(4) of the National Service Act, 2001.

He failed to present himself at a National Service training camp at the Wong Nai Siong Memorial building in Upper Lanang here on April 14, 2009.
