SIBU: UMW Toyota Motors Sdn Bhd, Sibu branch will launch and promote the new Prius C and the improved version of the 3rd generation Toyota Prius starting today until Sunday.
Members of the public are invited to see the new models any time between 9am and 6pm.
Speaking at a press conference yesterday, branch manager James Wong said both improved Prius and the all-new Prius C hybrid vehicles symbolised Toyota’s commitment to using technology to preserve the environment.
“The 3rd generation Prius was launched in Malaysia in 2009. UMW Toyota Motor has sold more than 2,700 units as of December 2011,” he pointed out.
The improved Prius continues to lead the hybrid revolution in many ways, namely advanced design and excellent driving performance, which has received great acclaim around the world.
It features new luxury and sophisticated interior and exterior and continues to exceed customers’ expectations with its fuel efficiency and low emission.
The all-new Prius C is the new hybrid style that sets the trend for urban mobility, especially for those environment-conscious and technology-savvy.
“The introduction of the all new model is aimed at making Toyota hybrid vehicles more affordable to everyone, as we want to offer our customers another opportunity to
enjoy the latest innovations in hybrid technology,” Wong said.
Globally, he said, Prius had made its presence felt in more than 70 countries and reached worldwide cumulative sales of over three million units.
Meanwhile, the improved Prius and new Prius C use the intelligent Toyota Hybrid Synergy Drive, which carefully synergises the strengths of an efficient petrol engine and a powerful electric motor.
This enables the vehicles to run independently on either petrol or electric power, or a combination of both, resulting in remarkable fuel efficiency and extremely low emissions, without compromising on power.
The improved Prius is driven by a hybrid system with a 1.8 litre petrol engine and electric motor offering class leading fuel efficiency and low emissions yet offers performance equivalent to a conventional 2.4 litre
car.
It comes with Electric Vehicle (EV) and two variants (Prius 1.8 and Prius 1.8 luxury).
Among the new features are the exterior design which expresses excellent aerodynamic performance and functional beauty, LED headlamps, daytime running lights, JBL premium audio with reverse camera and leather seats.
It comes in four colours and is priced at RM141,478.60 for the Prius standard and RM147,024.10 for the Prius Luxury variant.
The all-new compact Prius C has hybrid system with a 1.5L engine in a new fun package with superb fuel economy and affordable price for the young technology image professionals.
It also comes with EV, and among the new features are seven-airbags, vehicle stability control (VSC), smart entry and start system.
It comes in five colours, with a starting price of RM98,986.80.
Both models have a three-year or 100,000km warranty (whichever comes first).
