UNSIGHTED: The victim’s car in the crevice.

KUCHING: A man spent nine hours inside his wrecked car, which fell into a crevice along Jalan Batu Kawah-Jalan Matang following an accident, before being spotted by the public yesterday.

The 33-year-old, originally from Limbang, was said to have been driving back to his house when his car went out of control and crashed into the crevice around 3am.

The victim, who sustained a fractured left leg and back injuries, ended up being trapped inside his car for the next nine hours as the overgrown grass prevented passing motorists from seeing his car.

His ordeal finally came to an end around noon when
workers at a nearby factory spotted the vehicle and, upon realising that someone was still alive inside, immediately called the Civil Defence Department for help.

Rescue personnel were despatched to the scene and managed to extricate the victim before sending him to the Sarawak General Hospital, where he was subsequently admitted for treatment.
