Filipina placed under police protection

LABUAN: A Filipina who had been forced into prostitution at an entertainment outlet here is now under police protection and had been placed at a shelter home in Kota Kinabalu.

Labuan police chief Superintendent Saiman Kasran yesterday said the woman went through her bleakest hours at Manila Café here and made a police report in Penampang.

“Inspector Yau Wai Peng led the operation comprising personnel from Kota Kinabalu headquarters and crime investigation department here to raid the entertainment outlet.

“The police arrested two local women during the raid. The duo are believed to be ‘madams’ for the Filipino woman at the outlet and are being remanded,” said Saiman.

The case is being investigated under Section 13 of the Anti-Human Trafficking Act 2007.
