LABUAN: The finance department of Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) will use the Electronic Fund Transfer (EFT) to pay its clients, companies and contractor next year.

It is now in the process of introducing the system to its clients before its commencement.

Eldeon John Baptist, the finance assistant in general revenue administration section of the department, said that 25 companies and contractors had confirmed to use the EFT payment method.

“The department will credit the payment to the suppliers’ accounts and the payment by using Maybank2u.com.

“It is to enable the suppliers and contractors to update their company details and to present their acknowledgement form for the payment by using EFT to the finance department,” he said.

Some 30 suppliers and contractors attended the EFT briefing by Eldeon at the Theatrette Hall of UMS, Labuan International Campus (UMS-KAL) on March 20.

Eldeon said that with the new payment system, there is no need for contractors to come to the campus’ finance department to get the cheque.

The use of cheque payment will also reduce the risk of mistake, including missing cheque during the delivery process, he said.

Also present at the briefing session were the deputy senior finance of finance department, Zallifah Shadan, senior finance assistant Muhajirah Muchlish and UMS-KAL senior accountant assistant Ruby Zawati Timbang.
