7,000 Sabah youths to benefit from programme

KOTA KINABALU: A total of 7,000 youths will benefit from various 1 Azam programmes started since 2010, said Sabah Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Seri Yahya Hussin.

Yahya, who is also Sabah Agriculture and Food Industry Minister, said the total allocation for the programme was approximately RM72,174,496 and another 7,000 contestants were expected to benefit through the programme next year costing RM71 million.

Yahya disclosed this to the State Assembly yesterday when answering a question from Datuk Harman Mohammad (BN-Sulabayan).

Meanwhile his assistant, Datuk Bobby Suan when answering a question from Kamarlin Ombi (BN-Lumadan) said the government through the Department of Irrigation and Drainage (DID) would implement some long-term plans to solve flood problems at Lembangan Sungai Padas.

According to him, among the plans were the construction of flood control structures, flood walls, bunds, pump system and related works. — Bernama
