15 women arrested at reflexology, fun outlets

KOTA KINABALU: Sixteen foreigners, including 15 women, were arrested by the State Immigration Department for failing to produce any valid documents at a reflexology center and an entertainment outlet here on Friday night.

Aged 19 to 45, they comprised a 45-year-old Filipino, 13 Filipinas, and two women each from China and Vietnam.

State Immigration Department director Mohammad Mentek said the operation, dubbed ‘Ops Sayang’, was carried out at the two separate locations on Friday between 9pm till midnight.

“A total of 16 people were detained for numerous offences under the Immigration Act 1959/63.

“Three women from China, the Philippines and Vietnam were remanded under Section 39(b) of the Immigration Act 1959/63 for visit pass violation, while 12 women were remanded under Section 6 (1) (c) of the same act for not possessing a valid document to be in the country,” he said, adding that the man, who is believed to be a permanent resident in Sabah was detained for further investigation.

Mohammad, who said such operation would be carried out from time to time, thanked the public for providing information to the department.
