BATU KAWAN: Pachie Yuzy Honda Racing rider Mohd Zaqhwan Zaidi rode a brilliant race to win the CP130 category at the AAM Petronas Malaysian Cub Prix on his debut at the Batu Kawan Stadium here yesterday.
Mohd Zaqhwan, 17, making his debut in Batu Kawan, completed the 15-lap race with a time of 13:42.362s to emerge winner of the season opening race while Azlan Shah Kamaruzaman (Harian Metro Y-TEQ SCK Honda Racing) clocked 13:48.645s to finish second while Abdul Muhaimin Roslan (Yamaha Maju Motor Racing) came in third with a time of 13:49.541s.
“My initial target was just to be on the podium because Azlan was in superb form since the first day. Today everything went well and my machine was in excellent condition and the team worked extremely well,” he said.
The CP115 category witnessed Mohd Iskandar Raduan (Petronas Syntium Moto Yamaha AHM) rider sweep to the fore with a time of 11:12.403s for the title while Mohd Azhar Abdul Jalil (Motul Yamaha YY Pang Rading) finished second in 11:16.163s and Ahmad Abdul Kadir (APIDO Yamaha Boon Kui Racing) was third with a time of 11:20.479s.
For Mohd Iskandar, 27, it was memorable return to competition after a long break due to a broken leg while competing in the ASEAN Cub Prix in Melaka last year.
“This is my first race after almost a year and I am simply delighted with the win. This will certainly inspire me to do better in the coming rounds,” he said. — Bernama
