Unimas students, staff rescued from mountain

KUCHING: Ten students and staff of Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas), who lost their way trekking at Mount Santubong near here Sunday night, were rescued by Fire Services and Rescue personnel.

They were said to have fallen behind the rest of the team (73 members in all) after two female students sustained minor leg injuries.

The rescue team arrived at the scene at 7.55pm, about 10 minutes after being notified by the police in Santubong.

It took the rescuers nearly an hour to bring the 10 persons to safety.
