COMFORTABLE: Bigger space and air conditioning means more people staying longer to shop in comfort.

KUCHING: Those looking for a good deal in quality IT products prove this weekend that distance is not a factor when going to the 18th PIKOM PC Fair 2012 at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK).

It is a digital paradise
with many options for those looking to pick up a new mouse or customise a gaming PC or get great savings on anti-virus protection.

With over 150 exhibitors, shoppers are spoilt for choice.

Big names in electronic and digital goods took advantage of the space with towering booth structures and eye-catching displays.

The venue is much larger than its predecessor, allowing ample room between booths for shoppers to move comfortably while making way for the occasional passing trolley laden with more stock to meet demand.

PIKOM project director Wendy Liew said this is one of the advantages of the new venue.

“The PC Fair is always looking for ways to improve itself. We want to make it comfortable to shop, so the wider aisles and air conditioner is a big change from the last venue,” she told The Borneo Post yesterday.

Visits on the opening day on Friday went past 10,000. It was an encouraging response despite criticism that the fair would lose a lot of its clientele after relocating.

Liew doesn’t see it as a problem.

“It’s hard to get around Kuching without owning a car, and nearly every household own at least two cars,” she said, adding that people are already familiar with the PC Fair and know that it will be worth the trip.

“A lot of the technology is improved to cater to the gaming industry,” she said, when asked about the presence of Malaysian online game companies.

“Gaming is common now, and many of our visitors are looking to build or upgrade their system.”

PIKOM PC Fair is running their usual daily draws and one grand draw has the prize of a trip for two to see the Seven Wonders of the World.

Liew was also pleased to say that their grand draw prizes are getting better.

“Last year, it was a Mazda 2 that was up for grabs. It was won by someone from Batu Pahat.”

The PC Fair ends today.
