BAU: All SPDP wings have started oiling their machinery for an all out effort to ‘rescue’ the controversial Mas Gading in the coming 13th general election.

Speaking at a press conference at SPDP Tasik Biru office here yesterday, SPDP Puteri chief Barbara Mawan said all the party’s four wings (the others being Youth, Wanita and Putera) were switching into “transformed mode” to reach out to the constituents through various activities.

“We will kickstart in Mas Gading with a ‘Jom Berami Bersama SPDP Mas Gading’ event from Apr 27 to 28 at Fairy Cave. We hope it will attract about 2,000 people throughout Mas Gading constituency.”

Barbara added that a special launching gimmick by over 30 cyclists and 30 big bikers was being worked out to send a strong signal that the party would be leaving no stone unturned to rescue Mas Gading and the three other seats traditionally allocated to the party: Saratok, Baram and Bintulu.

“Through our launching gimmick we will try to reflect that we are moving forward in united spirit.

“It is also to show that no matter how far we are, we are coming to rescue Mas Gading.”

Mas Gading has been receiving priority attention from the party ever since it sacked its MP Datuk Dr Tiki Lafe recently for gross insubordination. Also shown the door were Tasik Biru assemblyman Datuk Peter Nansian Ngusie, Datuk Sylvester Entri Muran (Marudi), Paulus Gumbang (Batu Danau) and Rosey Yunus (Bekenu).

Although the five elected representatives are now partyless, they have pledged their loyalty to the BN.

‘Jom Berami Bersama SPDP Mas Gading’ will be a non-stop event. It will begin at 10am on Apr 27 and ends at 11pm on Apr 28. Activities slotted for the event include flea markets, games and entertainment.

“Prior to that, we will be holding a ‘Solidarity Night’ dinner on Apr 14 for Mas Gading as well.”

For Saratok, the party would be organising ‘Perhimpunan Seribu Belia’ there on Apr 21.

Pre-gawai events are also on the cards for Saratok and other divisions.

On another matter, Barbara said efforts were now underway to train its exco members beginning this Saturday so they could help the party’s candidates accordingly.

“The training is vital to ensure when we move down to the four seats we will have leaders capable of speaking up or understand relevant issues affecting the four different seats.”
