Abu Seman: Opposition are fault-finding experts

SIBU: Jemoreng assemblyman Abu Seman Jahwie is challenging the opposition to help the people rather than just finding faults with the BN government.

He said he was baffled that the opposition was only providing lip service to the people.

“Rather than just finding faults with the government and pouring cold water on all development projects, they should help the people.

“If they have the funds, help the people,” Abu Seman, who is also a political secretary to the Chief Minister, told thesundaypost yesterday.

When asked for his views about folks bringing their plight to the opposition, he said: “I advise them not to bring their problems to the opposition as they can only instigate and inject negativity. They won’t be able to solve your problem.

“Instead, they will blow the issue out of proportion and create a mess out of it. There is a proper channel to bring up your plight so that it reaches the relevant authorities.”

He added that the opposition would push the problem to the government to solve eventually.

“They (opposition) can’t solve any problem except to kick up issues and cause confusion to the people.”

Citing an example, he advised that when faced with a problem or situation such as lamp post being knocked down, the matter should be referred to the relevant authority for remedial actions.

“Don’t go to the opposition. What can they do? They will just instigate to get publicity. Go to the right channel. There are relevant agencies available to tackle their problems.”

On the scrapping of the National Higher Education Fund (PTPTN) as proposed by the opposition, Abu Seman said the facility was very much needed to produce the country’s human capital.

“If PTPTN is abolished, those needing the facility will be affected as these bright students need the financing to pursue their tertiary education. Without PTPTN, there will be bleak future for them.”

The facility, he added, would help produce more graduates.

“As far as I am concerned, PTPTN is very much needed and must be continued to ensure those needing the facility will continue to benefit from it.”
