Inappropriate parking could be cause of smashed windscreens

KUCHING: The smashed windscreens of 12 cars in an incident that occurred near SK Jenny Restaurant in Kampung Sg Pinang, Bau last Saturday is under investigation.

State deputy police commissioner Datuk Law Hong Soon commented that what triggered the ‘smash-happy’ perpetrators to vandalise the cars could be inappropriate parking.

“The vicinity where the crime was committed had no street lights and maybe the parked cars blocked the road, causing the perpetrators to vent their frustration on the cars,” he said.

“Nevertheless, the case is under investigation and has been classified as mischief,” Law told reporters during a press conference at Sarawak police contingent’s visit to Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) held in conjunction with the country’s 205th Police Day anniversary celebration here yesterday.

Meanwhile, state police commissioner Datuk Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani said the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) required continual collaboration with the Medical Department, particularly in cases that involved injuries, sex and murder.

“The police and medical personnel are always in sync through pathology assistance and medical expertise which are compulsory in the system,” he said, adding that hospitals in Sarawak could release medical records within three months to help speed up police investigations.
