Football supporters must remain calm

LIMBANG: The Limbang Football Association (LFA) will study the possibility of engaging more security personnel to strengthen security at certain matches which are considered “hot” among football fans and supporters here.

President of LFA Dr Abdul Rahman Ismail said the move is to prevent the recurrent of an incidence where a Limbang Premier League match had to be temporarily stopped on Tuesday, following a ruckus by some unruly supporters.

“Supporters should be professional and not to allow their emotions to spoil the game, or compromising the safety of players, officials or themselves,” said Dr Abdul Rahman who is also the Bukit Kota state assemblyman when asked to comment on the incidence when some supporters were involved in a fracas during the Putera FC versus Budak Pasir team.

The incident occurred during the 25th minutes causing it to be temporarily stopped for 15 minutes.

Chairman of the Limbang Premier League Alidin@Brahim Tawar also urged supporters to be disciplined and remain calmed during matches.
