Kampung Jemoreng best village in Mukah Division

SIBU: Kampung Jemoreng was crowned the winner of the ‘Pertandingan Anugerah Desa Cemerlang 2011’, and booked themselves a ticket to the state level competition.

Kampung Jerijeh Baru, Belawai and Kampung Pulat, Balingian were adjudged second and third respectively in this Mukah division level competition.

Jemoreng assemblyman Abu Seman Jahwie, who gave away the prizes to the winners, said evaluations were based on leadership, cleanliness, educational achievements, and economic activities among others.

The panel of judges were from the Chief Minister’s office, he said, adding that the competition was organised by Kemas.

“Participating villages are evaluated based on economic activities in the village that spurs development, leadership, cleanliness, level of cooperation among the folk, and so on.

“While the villagers celebrate their victory, they need to be mindful about the importance of consistency. I hope the victory will spur them to do better in the state level competition,” Abu Seman, who is also a political secretary to the Chief Minister said. Such competitions, he went on to say, had a gamut of merits and instilled positive values among the villages.

Among those present were Matu district officer Habari Bakar, Kemas officer Nur Aisyah Abdul Halim, chairman of Kampung Pulat JKKK Isa Amin and penghulu Razali Awang Damit of Kampung Jerijeh Baru, Daro.
