EAGER: Football teams taking part in the competition.

MIRI: Youths are urged to take up courses in technical institutes to enable them to take up jobs at industries in Sarawak Corridor of Renewable Energy (SCORE).

Lambir assemblyman Ripin Lamat especially encouraged school leavers to be equipped with technical skills as jobs offered by industries in SCORE were mostly technical in nature.

Among them were welding, electrical and computer-related jobs, he said.

“Job opportunities are plenty waiting for youths who have the necessary skills but first they must equip themselves with the necessary technical skills,” said Ripin who is also a political secretary to the Chief Minister.

The assemblyman also reminded youths to be ready to face the challenges brought about by changes in the state’s economic development.

The last thing he wanted to see was for the local youths to be left out of the many opportunities coming their way.

He gave this reminder when officiating at the opening of a local football competition here.
