MAS, Firefly win putra brand awards

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia Airlines (MAS) and its wholly-owned subsidiary, Firefly, were the big winners at the Putra Brand Awards 2012 ceremony.

MAS clinched the Gold Award for the Transportation, Travel and Tourism category while its community airline was the recipient of the Most Promising Brand Award.

MAS group chief executive officer Ahmad Jauhari Yahya and Firefly chief executive officer Ignatius Ong Ming Choy received the awards from Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin at a gala dinner here Tuesday night.

Ahmad Jauhari said this award is a fitting testimony that consumers continue to value MAS brand.

“I also commend the efforts of our staff for their exemplary and consistent service delivery to uphold Malaysia Airlines’ brand promise to customers. With their fine continued efforts, we will achieve success in our turnaround initiatives as well as garner more recognition for our brand, products and services,” he said in a statement.

Meanwhile, Ong said Firefly was thrilled to accept the distinguished award and it would spur the company to greater heights in serving its customers.

“Firefly will introduce its newest service between Kota Baharu and Johor Baharu effective April 25, being the only commercial airline to provide direct access between the east coast of Peninsular Malaysia and Johor,” he said.

Firefly would continue its effort to be one of the best customer-oriented regional airlines in the industry, offering an excellent flying experience to all customers, Ong added.

The annual Putra Brand Awards, organised by The Association of Accredited Advertising Agents Malaysia (4As), is the largest consumer-based sampling of its kind in Malaysia, measuring brands through four key attributes; growth, relevance, confidence and differentiation, where Malaysian consumers themselves are the judges.

The winners were decided based on results from a rigorous research methodology through an online poll survey of some 6,000 consumers nationwide to determine Malaysia’s favourite brands in 18 categories. –Bernama
