Posted on April 27, 2012, Friday

KUALA LUMPUR: The Badminton Association Malaysia (BAM) has appointed Rosman Razak as the new head coach for the national women and mixed double squads.

Rosman, who succeeds Indonesian Rexy Mainaky, will start next month.

BAM honorary-secretary Ng Chin Chai said Rosman would be assisted by national mixed doubles coach, Jeremy Gan, when taking charge of 14 shutters under his care.

“We looked internally, we looked at seniority, ability, good service and we also got good feedbacks from the players. With all these elements we have decided to choose Rosman,” he said.

Rexy had announced his resignation as badminton head coach of the national women’s and mixed double squads and accepted an offer as coaching director of the Philippines Badminton Association for two years, beginning next month.

Meanwhile, Ng also announced that the Malaysian Thomas Cup squad would be training in Dongguan, China from May 13 to 18 before leaving to Wuhan for the Thomas & Uber Cup finals from May 20 to 27. The final phase of the centralised training will be held from May 7 to 18 prior to the Thomas Cup proper.

“The committee has deliberated on the Thomas Cup team, and the list will be submitted to the exco for approval and the executive council meeting will be held tomorrow (today),” Ng said.
