SIBU: A reporter lost RM2,000 worth of belongings when his bag, containing computer netbook, camera and other digital gadgets, placed on a chair next to him was stolen while he was covering a function.

The incident happened at a coffee shop in Kampung Dato Road yesterday at around 9am.

The 30-year-old victim, surnamed Kong, was sitting with four other reporters.

About 50 people attended the function but no one saw who had taken the bag.

Meanwhile, a 69-year-old intoxicated motorcyclist was admitted to Sibu Hospital after he rode his bike into a 4-wheel-drive vehicle on Friday night.

The accident at 7pm occurred at Lane 1, Lanang Road when the motorcyclist came out from Lane 2 while the 4WD vehicle was headed towards Cengal Road.

The impact of the collision threw the motorcyclist onto the road where a Proton Saga travelling behind the 4WD narrowly missed him.

The visible injuries the rider from Durin suffered were a grazed face and a nosebleed.

An ambulance arrived and sent him to the hospital.
