KENINGAU: A plantation worker was injured after he was slashed with a machete by a friend at a plantation in Dalit, Sook.

He was treated at the Keningau hospital and his condition was reported to be stable.

Keningau district police chief Deputy Superintendent Zahari Mohamed disclosed yesterday that the complainant, who is a plantation manager, lodged a police report at the Keningau police station on Sunday that a 30-year-old man was slashed with a machete by his 32-year-old friend.

He said the victim who was in an inebriated state, was making loud noise to cause annoyance to his immediate neighbours in a ‘kongsi’ about 9.50pm on April 28.

“An argument ensued and when the victim and the suspect started criticising at each other, it prompted the suspect to take a machete and slashed the victim on his head,” Zahari said, adding the victim also sustained slash wounds on his right shoulder and on his hip.

The weapon used by the suspect was also seized.

The suspect had been arrested and was investigated under Section 325 of the Penal Code.
