GEORGE TOWN: Barisan Nasional (BN) has never copied the opposition’s ideas in providing any form of welfare aid to the people especially the Bantuan Rakyat 1Malaysia (BR1M) and schooling aid.

Shahbudin Yahaya (BN-Permatang Berangan) said what BN had done were new ideas and different from those given out by others.

“The most important thing is, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak has not copied what has been done by the state government but these instead were new ideas.”

He said this at the state assembly sitting yesterday when interjecting the speech by R.S.N. Rayer (DAP-Seri Delima) when debating on the address by Yang Dipertua Negeri Tun Abdul Rahman Abbas, in which Rayer accused BN of copying the state government’s ideas.

Datuk Arif Shah Omar Shah (BN-Seberang Jaya) who also joined in, said the prime minister had his own plans and ideas in transforming the nation and bringing prosperity to the people.

“He (Najib) has not at all copied (the opposition’s ideas) and has instead given out various forms of aid regardless of the individuals’ political belief.”

Arif Shah said all those eligible would be given aid, unlike the state government which would set conditions or certain criteria for the recipients. — Bernama
