KUALA LUMPUR: Having secured the safe release of his 12-year-old son after six days of captivity in the clutches two kidnappers, Shamelin Moodliar intends to take his family for a vacation in Europe.
The 41-year-old businessman said the vacation was aimed at “healing the heat” of Nayati’s abduction.
“My family and I are going to take a vacation in Europe,” he said at a press conference here yesterday.
Also present was his wife, Janice Smith, 40. However, the couple did not bring Nayati along as the boy had insisted in going to his Mont Kiara International School here.
Moodliar broke down in tears when asked how his son was coping after undergoing the kidnap ordeal.
“He is strong and I’m glad he immediately got back to his routine,” he said, thanking the police for successfully handling the kidnapping and making his son’s safety as their top priority.
Janice said her son slept well last night and was happy to note he had healed quickly after the ordeal.
On Thursday morning, Nayati – who was kidnapped last Friday by two men while walking alone to the nearby school – was found safe and unharmed in the Sungai Buloh rest and recreation area at the North South Highway here.
His family had paid an undisclosed ransom to secure his release.
Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Mohmad Abdullah has formed a special task force to track down the kidnappers.
Meanwhile, Federal CID director Datuk Seri Bakri Zinin, when contacted by Bernama, said the police had launched a hunt for the kidnappers since Nayati’s release. – Bernama
