Foetus found on beach

KOTA KINABALU: A foetus believed to be a couple of days’ old, was discovered on the Tanjung Lipat beach yesterday.

City police chief ACP Ahmad Sofi Zakaria, said the foetus was wrapped in a plastic bag and found among rubbish on the beach by a cleaner around 10am.

Ahmad Sofi said a police team was immediately dispatched to the scene to carry out investigation while the foetus was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital for a post-mortem.

He said no arrest was made and a thorough investigation is still carried out.

He urged members of the public with information to come forward to assist them in their investigation.

This is the second baby dumping case reported in the state capital within two days following the discovery of the body of a newborn girl at a recycle centre in Kayu Madang, Telipok on May 3.
