Umno flag run arrives in Keningau, given roaring welcome

KENINGAU: Twenty Umno members on a flag run representing the Women, Youth and Puteri movements arrived in Keningau yesterday evening and were given a roaring welcome by Keningau Umno divisional head Datuk Haji Sairin Karno and his 100 members as well as by leaders of Barisan Nasional component parties.

Leader of the expedition, Faez Datuk Nordin who handed over the flag to Sairin, informed The Borneo Post that they started the journey from Kalabakan at 10am yesterday and stopped briefly at Nabawan before proceeding to Keningau.

The group continued with the journey to Tenom and would stop overnight at Sipitang before going to Beaufort, Papar and Putatan and they are expected to arrive at the Sabah Umno headquarters at 4pm tomorrow.

The Ranau Umno Youth head said the Umno flag would be handed over to Sabah Umno liaison chief Datuk Seri Musa Haji Aman upon their arrival.

The expedition was given a rousing send-off as they moved towards Tenom led by about 100 Umno members taking part in a one-kilometer flag run.

BN component leaders who were at the event included Keningau MCA head Kapitan Jack Chin, Keningau Gerakan head Clarence Lee, Liawan PBS Youth head Augustine Nain and Rufus Gahim from UPKO.

The flag run is held in conjunction with the party”s 66th anniversary.
