‘Menu Rakyat 1Malaysia’ open to all — Rohani

MIRI: Non-Muslim food operators in the state have been reminded that ‘Menu Rakyat 1Malaysia’ (MR1M) is not meant for Muslims alone, and that they are welcomed to participate.

In making the call, Deputy Minister of Domestic Trade and Co-operative and Consumerism (MTDCC) Datuk Rohani Abdul Karim said currently out of the 138 MR1M participants in the state, only 38 were non-Muslims.

“MR1M is not only for Muslims to take part. It is opened to all. Those who are interested can call up MDTCC in their area,” said told reporters during breakfast with reporters at a MR1M outlet here.

At present, there are 18 MR1M outlets here.

Rohani said her Ministry’s target was to have a total of 3,000 participants nationwide by the end of the year.

“Currently, the figure has reached 2,100 outlets nationwide, including the 138 from Sarawak.”

For Sarawak, she said, the goal is was have at least 12 more.

At MR1M outlets, customers get to enjoy cheaper breakfast and lunch compared to ordinary outlets.

“At MR1M, customers can enjoy breakfast for just RM2.50 per person and RM5 for lunch.”
