KUCHING: The Sarawak State Sports Council (MSNS) are all set to launch the Sukma XV countdown at the Kuching Waterfront this Friday (May 18).
Around 500 state athletes inclusive of those participating in Sukma XV this year are expected to take part in the ceremony with Minister of Social Development Tan Sri William Mawan Ikom launching the much anticipated countdown.
The Sukma XV will be held in Kuantan, Pahang this year from July 7 to 14. A total of 376 Sarawakian athletes will compete for top honours in 18 compulsory sports events.
“Most of our state athletes have started their centralised training by now. They are training in sport centres throughout Sarawak,” informed MSNS official Sukiman Sela. Football and karate-do are among the earliest sports events to be contested at Sukma XV. Sarawak is hopeful on their medal prospects for both events.
