State petanque team targets medal haul

KUCHING: The Sarawak Sukma XV petanque team have begun their centralised training at SMK Santubong here since Tuesday.

According to petanque sport co-ordinator Mohammad Mantali, both boy’s and girl’s teams are targeting at least one gold and one silver medals at Sukma XV.

“There will be three training sessions every day. The morning session is from 7am till 12noon, in the evening from 2pm till 6pm and at night for about an hour which is from 9pm to 10pm,” he revealed.

“Our athletes are training vigorously. They are serious in winning medals for the state through this event,” he enthused.

The Sukma XV will start from July 7 to 14 this year.
