Twelve darters bound for KK grand finale

KUCHING: Sarawak Dart Association (PBS) will be sending a strong team of 12 darters to take part in the grand finals of Carlsberg Darts champiosnhip to be held in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah from July 14 till 15.

The state team members are those who emerged as the top two darters from the six zones of the recent Sarawak leg of this year’s Carlsberg Darts championship which ended yesterday at Samarahan Darts Club of Kota Samarahan.

Representing Kuching A is the pair of Roslani Salleh/ Safri Saidi, Kuching B-Uda Jubin/Dani Abon, Samarahan-Gerard George Entigar/ Eric Wong, Sibu-Sing Yik Ting / Razamie Sidi , Bintulu- Nyang Ngang /Jimmy Henry and Ricky Anthony/Freddie Alderine Elouk from Miri.

The last team to qualify was the Samarahan’s pair of Gerard George Entigar and Eric Wong after they emerged overall champion of the Samarahan Zone event where a record 48 teams took part.

In the keenly contest final which had to be decided in the 7th frame, the pair known as Ezzi Heaven beat D’Sho Darters 4-3 to receive the grand cash prize of RM400. Zender and Valerian from D’Sho Darters team bagged RM200 as first runner up.

Joint third and fourth placing went to D’Smart Darters and The Gunners.

“We hope Ezzi Heaven Darters would do Kuching proud when they compete at the grand finals and we thank Carlsberg for organising this championship for the second year running” said Michael Anding, president of Persatuan Darts Sarawak.

According to Carlsberg Malaysia Sarawak area sales manager, Bernard Gan the company is proud to be associated with the popular game and the event aims to provide a platform to showcase the talented players pitting against one another.

In another development, Kuching North City Commission (DBKU) together with Sarawak Dart Association (PDS) will be organizing the upcoming Kuching’s Double Open Dart championship from July 26 to 27 at Sungai Maong Hall.

Attractive prizes await the winners with the champion will receive cash RM2,000 while the first runner-up will get RM1,000 and third, fourth placings will each take home RM500.

Entry fee is only RM100 per team and must be submitted together with the entry form on before the closing date on May 25.
