SIBU: After two matches, V8 FC topped the table in Group B of the Sibu Football League held at Stadium Tun Zaidi.

The team trounced PBB 7-1 in an exciting and thrilling match that saw non-stop 90 minutes actions from both sides.

V8 FC had earlier edged title contender Cheetah FC 2-1 to secure the maximum six points.

In second placing was Cheetah, followed by Exodust FC.

Both Cheetah and Exodust had three points after they defeated Sinar Suria 7-1 and QLA5110 FC 3-2 respectively.

Exodust FC, powered by former-state player Gilbert Cassidy, had played just one match; hence it was difficult to determine the strength of the team as yet.

From Group A, Aliana Ent topped the group after thrashing Sains FC 6-1.

Singgah Selalu FC was second, followed by Rimba Hijau FC in third. Both teams had registered a win each. The former over NP FC (3-1) and the latter, Sastera FC (4-3).

Sibu Football Association secretary Abdul Hajis was satisfied with the performance of the players thus far.

“All the matches were played at full pace and there were little complaints. Hopefully, the players will continue to show grit and determination to win,” he said.

The tournament top scorers so far included Rabani Temat (V8 FC) and Abg Nizamruddin (Cheetah FC) with three goals each while Johnny and Sidek (both from Aliana), Maxsteiner Kapali (V8 FC) and Mohd Ikmal (Exodust) scored two goals each.

“Football fans are invited to turn up for the four matches this coming weekend at Stadium Tun Zaidi. Rimba Hijau will take on Sains FC at 2pm on May 26, to be followed by Sinar Suria versus PBB at 4pm. On May 27, the matches are NP FC versus Aliana Ent and QLA 5110 FC versus Cheetah FC.
