PUTRAJAYA: The Million Youths Gathering 2012 here is not only for strengthening relations between government agencies and the younger generation, but also to expose the roles played by the agencies to them.
Youths met by Bernama at the gathering yesterday said gathering was eye-opener that their development depended a lot on government agencies.
A private higher education institution student, Ramli Shahdan, 26, said that he and his friends were able to understand more on the roles played by the agencies, thus it gave him more confidence to deal with them.
Noor Khatijah Sulaiman, 24, a private sector employee and who is also involved with the exhibitions at the gathering, felt the calling to work with the government after seeing all the job opportunities that the government had to offer.
“With their explanation, it has indirectly encouraged me to try and work with them, even though, I know the government servants’s recruitment is tough,” she said.
Meanhwile, an Election Commission staff who did not wish to be named, said she was overwhelmed with the crowd which turned up at the commission’s booth.
She said a lot of youths invaded the booth to register as voters, get information on the electoral roll and to check their status as voters.
Meanwhile, Malaysian Administrative Modernisation and Management Planning Unit (MAMPU)’s Planning and Corporate Communications Department deputy director, Aedy Fadly Ramli said their booth had received about 600 youths on the opening day on Thursday.
“This shows that they (youth) now have more courage to come forward to get information on government agencies,”he said. — Bernama
