Albert , Christine win Bidayuh golf tournament

KUCHING: Albert Tanon emerged champion in the Eighth World Bidayuh Golf Championship with a gross of 68 points.

He won the challenge trophy, cash prize and the tournament’s green jacket. Magit Semong was at second with 79 points and Andrew Peter Joseph was third with 84 points.

This was the first time a winner’s jacket was introduced in the tournament and if a player won it three times he could keep it.  In the women’s section, Christine scored a net score of 70 points, making her the tournament’s net champion.

She won the red jacket and a challenge trophy.

The one-day tournament which was held at Kelab Golf Sarawak (KGS) attracted  45 golfers from the Bidayuh community.

“I am glad that we had the opportunity to organise this tournament for the eighth time as it is a great opportunity to test our skills and produce more sportsmen among the community through this event, “ said Datu Ik Pahon Joyik one of the tournament’s organising committee members.

Minister of Communication and Infrastructure Development Dato Sri Michael Manyin Jawong officiated at the closing ceremony.
