KUCHING: Tourism Minister Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Openg have called on the people to diversify their savings and investments.

One of the altenative channels available according to Abang Johari is to invest in gold, which can be used on “rainy days” due to its stable market value.

“Besides EPF, trust funds and the numerous saving accounts available, investing in gold is another saving instrument which has a stable value,” said Abang Johari, who is also Satok assemblyman during the launch of the Triplenine Goldworld Gallery Sarawak branch at the Al-Idris commercial centre, Jalan Kulas yesterday.

He hailed the gallery for opening its branch in Sarawak as it would provide people with a place to liquidify their gold assets.

The gallery is also a sign of confidence from Peninsular Malaysia entrepreneurs in the Sarawakian market, said Abang Johari, who is also the Housing Minister.

Meanwhile, Triplenine’s Sarawak branch general manager Tengku Aishah Ibrahim said that the company that was formed on June 14, 2011 is wholly owned by Bumiputeras.

She also said that the gallery would sell and buy new or used gold in the form of jewellery, coins and gold bars.

Aishah said that the gallery would` also provide services to custom-made gold items for their customers.

Among the other services that the gallery provides is a free seminar on gold management every Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 12pm and 2pm to 4pm.
