MRT Corp pre-qualifies 31 firms for 5 tenders worth RM791 mln

KUALA LUMPUR: MRT Corp announced that 31 companies have been pre-qualified to tender for five systems work packages of the 51km Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) project linking Sg Buloh and Kajang.

“A field of 76 companies participated in the pre-qualification exercise between Jan 9 and March 12, 2012,” said MRT Corp chief executive officer, Datuk Azhar Abdul Hamid, in a statement.

“The large interest is expected given the stature of this project.

“However, after a fair, transparent and rigorous pre-qualifying process, we have selected these companies, whom we believe will be able to provide the project the right inputs,” he said.

The 31 local and international companies were selected from a pool of 76 firms that were initially considered.

The tenders, which opened this week, have a combined value of RM791 million which include the alignment’s telecommunication system as well as the automated fare collection (AFC) system.

For the telecommunication system or S07 package, there are eight pre-qualified companies namely Indra Technology Solutions Malaysia Sdn Bhd; Samsung SDS Co Ltd; Apex Communications Sdn Bhd – LG CNS Consortium; CMCE – Thales Consortium (CTC); EVD – REI JV; Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd; Alcatel-Lucent Malaysia Sdn Bhd & Mitsui & Co.

Plant Systems Ltd; Siemens AG and Siemens Malaysia Sdn Bhd.

For S08 packages or facility Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition System Scope (SCADA), four companies were involved namely AFS Engineering (M) Sdn Bhd – ST Electronics JV; CTC; Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd and Apex Communications Sdn Bhd–Beijing Hollysys Ltd Consortium.

As for S09 packages or Automated Fare Collection System (AFC), there were six pre-qualified companies namely Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd; Indra Tech Solutions Malaysia Sdn Bhd – Hopetech Sdn Bhd; Samsung SDS Co Ltd; Sapura – Thales Consortium (STC); Heitech Padu Bhd and Affiliated Computer Services Solutions France SAS.

MRT Corp said six pre-qualified companies were involved in S10 package or Electronic Access Control System (EACS), namely Indra Technology Solutions Malaysia Sdn Bhd; KUB Telekomunikasi Sdn Bhd; Pernec Corporation Bhd; Honeywell Engineering Sdn Bhd; Apex Communications Sdn Bhd; Johnson Controls (M) Sdn Bhd and Heitech Padu Bhd.

For S11 package or Building Management System (BMS), MRT Corp announced four companies namely Metronic Engineering Sdn Bhd; KUB Telekomunikasi Sdn Bhd; Pernec Corp Bhd; Honeywell Engineering Sdn Bhd; Apex Communications Sdn Bhd – Johnson Controls (M) Sdn Bhd and Heitech Padu. MRT Corp has informed all successful companies via formal letters.

All tenders would close on July 23, 2012, except for telecommunication system and AFC system, which would close on August 6, 2012. — Bernama
