KUCHING: A steady stream of relatives, colleagues and friends begin paying their last respects to the late Dunstan Melling Undau, executive editor of the New Sarawak Tribune at his residence at No. 129, Lorong 1C, Jalan Burung Rawa, off Jalan Batu Kawa here yesterday.

The late Dunstan is also known for his social activities and one of them is the state Scout movement where he was State Scout Chief Commissioner.

Among those paying their last respects yesterday were his former colleagues including State Information director Resat Salleh and his deputy Zaini Mohamad as well as other senior officers of the department.

A prominent philanthropist Datuk Seri Ang Lai Soon also paid his last respect to the Scout chief.

Around 2pm yesterday, Dunstan’s close friend Tan Sri William Mawan Ikom who is State Senior Minister and Sarawak Scout Council president, paid his last respect.

On Sunday night, Assistant Minister of Tourism Datuk Talip Zulpilip paid his last respect.

Dunstan, 66, was killed when his 4WD pickup truck collided head on with a lorry ferrying gas cylinders near Sri Aman while he and his wife Jacqueline Bungai, 62, were on their journey to Saratok early Saturday morning. His wife survived the crash.

The requiem mass service will be held on Thursday (May 31) morning around 9.30am at St Thomas Cathedral here and thereafter he will be buried at the Anglican Cemetery, Batu Kitang.
