KOTA KINABALU: Sabah-based record label, Noisy Lions, recently released an album by Sabah’s singer and songwriter, Appy.

Fusing Jazz and R&B, Appy’s new Extended Play (EP) entitled ‘Happy Thoughts’ was launched at Party Play Lifestyle Cafe, Lintas Plaza on Sunday.

Appy is one talented singer and songwriter who is heavily influenced by R&B and Bossa and he started into music at a very tender age.

Notably, he is the band leader for Sabah rock band, Cosmic.

Moving away and onward from the rock genre, Appy decided to expand his singing and performance range to a more matured audience, focusing more on Jazz and R&B fusion. His first single “Aku dan Love’ has been on the air waves via the local radio stations starting in the middle of this month.

He collaborated with Malaysian renowned rapper, Jin Hackman and Sabah-based rapper, Decipher, on the second single ‘For You’, scheduled for radio airplay this coming July.

Guests who attended the EP launching had a memorable night as local artistes Jasmine Nocole Yong, Beverly Rachel and U’KayKay’Le, paved the launch for Appy.

“I feel very excited and blessed to have the opportunity to collaborate with the talented Jin Hackman and Decipher and to have U’KayKay’Le, Jasmine and Beverly to open for me is such as an honour.

“I can’t wait to share with everyone the music I’ve made. It was fun, small party with good humour, a token of my appreciation to everyone who have been supporting my passion,” he said.

Appy added he would be working on a full length album set to be released by end of this year,

Meanwhile, the artiste manager of Noisy Lions, Arthur Lee, said the record label is hoping to bring Appy’s music not only to Sabahans but also to those in the peninsula.
