KUCHING: A unity gathering of youths at Saratok is on the card.

The Barisan Nasional (BN) event co-organised by the four wings of Sarawak Progressive Democratic Party (SPDP) is to be held at the hall of SJKC Min Syn Saratok on June 9.

SPDP Puteri chief Councillor Barbara Mawan said the four wings were its Women, Youth, Putera and Puteri.

The event organising chairman would be SPDP Putera Saratok chief Gerald Peter Engkasan.

Barbara said this event had received encouraging response from young members of the four BN component parties namely Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Berastu (PBB), Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) and Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) besides SPDP.

The four wings held a meeting over the dinner event themed ‘Malam Aman Belia 2012’ at SPDP Saratok office on May 25.

Barbara was optimistic this youth gathering would be successful, taking into account the first one held last April themed ‘Malam Seribu Belia 2012’ at the same venue.

SPDP is planning to invite BN information chief Datuk Ahmad Maslan, who is also deputy minister in the prime minister’s department, to attend a Gawai Dayak celebration in Bau, the base for Mas Gading parliamentary constituency.

It will be held tentatively on June 2 at ‘Bung Konis’, the resort-like home of local entrepreneur and SPDP member Henry Harry Jinep with party member Anthony Nogeh Gumbek as event organising chairman.

Both Henry and Nogeh have been recommended by SPDP as potential BN candidates for Mas Gading in the next parliamentary election (GE13).

They were both at a lunch gathering hosted by SPDP president Tan Sri William Mawan at See Good Restaurant at Jalan Ban Hock here yesterday.

Other than Barbara at the lunch were party vice-presidents Rayan Narong and Capt Zainuddin Hamdan, deputy secretary-general Paul Igai, deputy information chief Churchill Drem, supreme council members Councillor Lawas Jawa and Udin Ali, executive secretary Saleh Britin as well as SPDP Tasik Biru Division chairman Michael Siten.
