RANAU: A 12-year-boy was found hanged with his shoelaces on Monday in what was believed to be a suicide.

The boy, identified as Rabin Ginin, was said to be unhappy when he tried in vain to get his father, a bus driver, to send him to the nearby Kampung Tompios as he wanted to spend time with his grandfather during the school holidays.

His father was said to have told him he was too busy.

The boy’s sister who found him hanged informed other members of the family, but he was pronounced dead after he was rushed to Ranau Hospital.

According to district police chief DSP Abdul Rahman Kassim, the post-mortem showed Rabin died from asphyxiation.

The incident was one of three apparent suicides by hanging in Sabah in two days.

The other two involved a 20-year-old man in Inanam on Monday and a 53-year-old man in Tuaran Bypass on the following day.

The young man, Ronny Edward Simon, was found hanged in his bedroom at Kampung Kiang Lama, Jalan Kianbalang in Inanam around 5.30pm on Monday in what was believed to be due to relationship problem with his girlfriend.

The older man, identified as Lin Yun Fah, was found hanged under a tree at the SGM Culture Centre, Tuaran Bypass, near Taman Bukit Harapan, on Tuesday.
