SEREMBAN: The Sessions Court here acquitted and discharged blogger Khairul Nizam Abd Ghani, 31, or also known as Aduka Taruna among bloggers, who was charged with insulting the Johor royalty two years ago.
Judge Datin M Kunasundary made the decision after the prosecution failed to establish a prima facie case.
Khairul Nizam was charged with allegedly committing the offence by uploading the remarks on his blog, adukataruna.blogspot.com.my on Jan 22, 2010 between 7.25pm and 9.05pm at No 297 Rumah Rakyat Panchor.
If convicted he would have faced up to a year’s imprisonment and a fine of up to RM50,000 under Section 233(1)(a) of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.
Khairul Nizam was represented by Mohd Radzlan Jalaludin while Deputy Public Prosecutor Bhupinder Singh prosecuted. — Bernama
