Jobless man with stolen vehicle jailed

KOTA KINABALU: A 21-year-old jobless man was jailed for a year by the Magistrate Court for dishonestly receiving a stolen vehicle.

Magistrate Nuruhuda Mohd Yusof meted out the sentence on Abdul Satral Abdul Aziz after the latter pleaded guilty to the charge yesterday.

The accused admitted to having dishonestly received a stolen car belonging to one Jumat Jimy at Jalan Bukit Sepanggar in Menggatal about 7.30am on May 1, this year.

Abdul Satral was charged under Section 411 of the Penal Code which provides for a jail term of up to five years, or a fine, or both, upon conviction.

In another but similar case, Nadzhar Datu Ibnun, 31, was jailed for nine months while Chai Soo Hen, 48, was fined RM3,000, in default, five months?jail.

Nadzhar admitted to retaining some stolen items, namely three laptops, a computer, a hand phone and RM200 cash, belonging to Eh Resources Sdn Bhd.

He committed the offence at the company premises about 8.15am on May 26, this year at Block J in Lot 7, Lorong Pusat Komersial here.

Chai meanwhile admitted to retaining a stolen television set at a house in Taman Sepanggar, Menggatal about 1.15pm on April 27, this year.

Prosecuting officer Inspector Syahrin Ali prosecuted the cases.
