Senior citizen hit by bike, dies

LABUAN: A 59-year-old woman, a cleaner at a shopping complex, died on the spot after she was knocked down by a motorcycle at 4.30pm on Thursday as she was walking to cross the road on the pedestrian crossing in front of Labuan International Sea Sport Complex.

According to Labuan Police Chief, Superintendant Saiman Kasran the motorcyclist aged 17 and his pillion rider,16, both students of a secondary school, sustained light injuries and this case is being investigated under Section 41 Road Transport Act 1987.

Saiman said that based on the initial police investigation, the motorcyclist was traveling  at high speed when the driver rammed the woman who died of serious head injury.

The duo were freed on police bail pending further investigation.
