KUCHING: Eight categories will be contested in this year’s Mr Sarawak Bodybuilding Championship to be held at MBKS Auditorium from June 9 to 10 where beefcakes from Kuching, Sibu, Miri and Bintulu are taking part.
The categories to be contested are namely Novice (below and above 70), Flyweight (55-60kg), Bantam (60-65kg), Light weight (65-70kg), Welter weight (70-75kg), Light Middle weight (75-80kg), Light Heavy weight (85-90kg) and Heavy weight (90kg),
There will be no Masters and Junior categories in this year’s event but the organiser, Sarawak Bodybuilding Association (SBA) had decided to include the Novice category to attract newcomers.
Novice category is for those who have not won a top three placing in previous bodybuilding competitions.
The top winners of all categories will be subjected to another round of selection by the committee of judges to represent Sarawak at the Mr Malaysia to be held in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah next month.
Selection is based on body symmetry, muscularity, performance and past achievements (if any).
Among the title hopefuls from Kuching include Sim Kun Hiong, Hairol Tarmizi, Awg Mohd Azizul Ghani, Densi Runya, Malvern Abdullah, Arini Marzuki, Sharafuddin Samuri, Jeremy Tikhai, Kelvin Phoan and Wilfred.
Other participants from Kuching are Fazri Sedi, Kiu Wong, Awang Baki, Shafizan, Mohd Farid, Zulazman and Suhardi.
All bodybuilding fans are welcome to witness the exciting event and give full support to the participants flexing their stuff to woo the judges. The entrance ticket is only RM5 per person.
