MIRI: The Vikings Futsal team from Australia is expected to have another round of playing tour to Sarawak sometime in November where 20 of their best players are joining the trip.

According to the team’s liaison officer in Miri, Fadillah Ibrahim, their recent visit here was fruitful and it has inspired the management to organize a similar event later this year.

“They were impressed with what we have here and this has inspired them to come back here again” he said on the team’s recent visit where eight of its players came a calling together with
their head coach, Romeo Frediani.

While in Miri, the Vikings played two friendlies at Miri Indoor Stadium. Vikings Futsal Miri (Warriors) team won 2 – 1 and the Vikings Futsal Miri (Tri-Unique) team defeated the Vikings Futsal Australia 3 – 1.

A total 25 participants aged between 13 to 17 years old took part in the futsal clinic and training jointly conducted by Frediani and Fadillah.

“We hope our young talents would be more encouraged to play futsal and Vikings Futsal Miri is a good avenue for them to gain exposure by playing against international players,” he said.

The visit by the foreign futsal team also augurs well for Miri City.

The Aussie players and coach are now in Kuching for a similar tour before going to Samarahan on June 9 and leaving for Kuala Lumpur.
