Irrespective of times, yes, but chances are higher during festive seasons, or later hours, usually after work or weekends. A drunk driver in daytime will probably be spotted by police or will have already collided at some other car or tree, but there are lots of traffic on the road so the speeds they can get up to are a bit lower. A drunk driver late at night will have more space to pickup speed as there are far less cars, and with visibility reduced and beer goggles on, the effects are much more devastating. I do not want to be on the receiving end of one.

If the Police are helping if give them thumbs up. What do you expect, for them to park properly… I am not a fan of the Police but credit is due where credit is due. I would prefer the Police to park improperly than the passers by who park like they own the road just trying to take a peek at who was involved in the accident and what car number involved for 4D.
You can’t compare all the Police as having the same attitude. It’s like me saying that you are the exact mold of your father and if your dad was a rapist, then you are also a rapist. Literally speaking. I have my grudge on the Police too but when they do good, lets give credit.

How many serious offence will this drunk driver received? Put him into serious punishment. Long jail term , and hang up is driving licence for life. Pay whatever expenses injury occure. This is to remind other drunk driver too.

Stephen, you must look at the negative side of the drunken driver and not the police, They’re doing their duties and normally a signboard with blinking lights will be in place. You should tell the drunken driver to stay at home and do things that will be more beneficial.

That photo of the drunkard driver involved in the accident should be shown in the newspaper to let people know who the devil is he so that he will not think he is the king of the road.

In Miri, drinkers will drink irrespective of what times. So do not be surprise if you happen to see vehicles driven like battered snake on the road as early as 6 p.m.

I must agree with your comment when you said there was times even these policemen would station their mobiles units indiscriminately. It happened to me few times when I passed by them. At one night it so happened I drove through a road where straight ahead of me an accident occurred. I was so damn upset when a bright as a sun can be shining highlight was switched on from my opposite view but which parked on my side of the road. I was even upset when I saw the culprit was a police car. Wasn’t that 3 blinking lights on its roof enough to show to the whole world they were there?

As a regular citizen, we must NOT discount that safety procedures are not adhered to.
This had always, always seen during emergencies’ locations.
Rescue units n police personnel parked their vehicles indiscriminately without due concern on passerby using the roads too.
Their over-spirited intentions to be at the seen made them forgot the safety needs or it is arrogance taking over the helm. Its more of the latter.
The police have a lot to catch up, besides their reputation that exist already in the pdrm.
Drunk drivers are the other separate issue.

A lot more people get away with this almost every week than we all think. This is why I no longer stay out later than 11pm for the drive home unless necessary

I hope the two policemen and the reporter will fully recover. And as for for that ******* drunkard, he should be heavily fined and kept in jail for a long time. He could be an alcoholic and to deprive him from any access to alcohol for being in jail is also a good punishment for him. Serve him right. By now, in the police lockup, he should have recollected himself and got back to his true sense and must have regretted his stupidity. Dear readers, that idiot, foolish and stupid drunkard is of course a useless individual, but take him as a warning (and lesson learnt) that there is nothing to gain in drinking and at the same time driving.

That’s unbelievable behaviour of the drunken driver. He should be put behind bars for dangerous driving.
