MIRI: Sibuti Member of Parliament Ahmad Lai Bujang gave 50 grocery hampers to residents of a Senior Citizen Day Care Centre at Krokop here at a function to celebrate Gawai Dayak recently.
Speaking at the function he said elected representatives were chosen through the ballot box to be the ‘middlemen’ between the people and the government.
He added that their task was to listen to the problems of the people in their constituencies.
Ahmad Lai urged the people not to listen to those who were out to discredit the government despite all the good it had done for the people.
Also present at the event were political secretary to the minister of Green Technology, Energy and Water Datuk Sebastian Ting, Miri Mayor Lawrence Lai and event organising chairman Pemanca Wilson Siang Lim.
