Masterskills makes learning fun and enjoyable

KUCHING: Creative approaches taken by lecturers and adequate facilities were the main reasons why students at Masterskills College of Nursing and Health were able to enjoy their classes.

For Aston Bobby, 30, who is doing his final year in Diploma in Health Care at Masterskills, class environment is helping to create the mood for everyone to focus.

“The lecturers are providing adequate subject materials such as lecture slides and notes, and this has help us to understand further the topic,” said Aston.

He added that other course mates’ willingness to participate in group-discussions has led to very enjoyable and effective teamwork especially during group assignments.

Planning to obtain his degree in similar field, Aston said choosing Masterskills is the right choice for those interested to seek jobs in related field, especially in nursing and healthcare.

Meanwhile, 22-year-old Jennifer John, who is also in her final year in Diploma in Health Care highlighted the capability of lecturers in her course especially during class sessions.

“They were able to turn the learning into something fun and this had kept our focus on the subject,” said Jennifer.

She added that the college holds various activities to utilise students’ free time and this in a way had filled students with useful and fun activities.

Both Aston and Jennifer were met at the Masterskills Marketing Day Exhibition participated by final year students of the college yesterday.

Programme supervisor Majory Rabai, when met, said the event was aimed at building the confidence among students and at the same time polishing their communication skills.

“From this programme, we believe that students can train themselves in terms of communication skills as we had set the environment for them. This in a way can help them to improve in their marketing skills,” said Majory.

She added that proceeds from sales of the event would be donated to a non-governmental organisation that had yet to be chosen.

A total of nine booths were set up at the parking lot of Masterskills yesterday selling various items.
