SIBU: Young golfer Richard Ngu proved his mettle when he struck a hole-in-one at the Deputy President’s Cup 2012 tournament at Sibu Golf Club (SGC), bagging the RM2,000 cash prize.

Seasoned golfer Dr William Ting had nothing but full of praises for Ngu, saying that hitting a hole-in-one was no walk in the park.

“Trust me, I have been playing golf for quite a long time and achieving Ngu’s feat was no easy task. It takes skills and discipline to achieve that kind of feat,” said Ting, who is SGC deputy president and the sponsor for the competition.

Meanwhile, Darren Lau was the nett winner for Group A (with handicap index of 18 and below), followed by Law Wang Chin in the second spot and Abd Latif Saugan, third.

In Group B, Steve Lai was crowned the nett winner.

Datuk Ding Lian Cheon grabbed the first runner-up spot while Dahari Jol had to be contended with the second runner-up placing.

Lau Ching Leong was the winner in the Gross Section.

More than 100 golfers took part in the competition held at Sibu Golf Course last Saturday.
