KOTA KINABALU: Four people were killed in three separate road accidents in Inanam on Thursday and in Tuaran and Keningau yesterday.

In the first incident, a factory worker, identified as Jefri Otoh, 32, from Pitas, was killed after the Honda Legend car he was driving crashed into a tree on a traffic island at Km 9.9, Tuaran Road, Inanam around 9pm on Thursday.

The victim, who was pinned in the driver’s seat, succumbed to serious chest injury.

It took a Fire and Rescue Department team about half an hour to remove his body from the car.

City police chief ACP Ahmad Sofi Zakaria said initial police investigation indicated the victim was on his way home to Kampung Inanam Laut when he lost control of his vehicle.

His body was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital for a post-mortem, he said.

Ahmad Sofi urged eyewitnesses to come forward to assist police in their investigation under Section 41 of the Road Transport Act 1987.

In the second accident, two men were killed while two others suffered serious injuries after the Perodua Kancil car they were travelling in collided with a 10-tone lorry at Km 7, Jalan Sulaman, Tuaran yesterday.
