TAIPING: Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin described the presence of 70,000 people at the Perak “Promises Fulfilled Tour” programme here yesterday as a manifestation of the people’s support for the Barisan Nasional (BN) government led by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
It was a refection of the people’s closeness to the BN government which they realised can provide them with a better future, he said when launching the programme.
Muhyiddin said he hoped that the people of Perak would continue to support the BN and demonstrate this at the next general election.
“The blue wave has risen. This is a manifestation of the people’s support. When the general election comes, they will surely support the BN to enable us implement our promises,” he said.
Muhyiddin said the support was a result of the government’s commitment to providing the people with a good life.
Muhyiddin said the people were convinced of the BN government’s track record of implementing socio-economic, cultural and political programmes over the last 55 years.
He also said that the nation’s success was recognised by the world community which categorised Malaysia as one of the most developed of developing countries.
The deputy prime minister elaborated on the progress of Malaysia from an agro-based country to a nation well-endowed in the industrial and services sectors.
He said the government carried out careful planning to help the people meet their needs through allocations for the various sectors annually. — Bernama
