PAPAR: Puteri Umno chief Datuk Rosnah Abdul Rahid Shirlin yesterday took a swipe at the opposition’s taglines, Ini Kali Lah (This is the time) and  Kami Mahu Tukar Baju Baru (We want a change of clothes).

The taglines were created by vengeful people who want to confuse the electorate, the Deputy Health Minister said.

“It is true that new clothes are nice but we must remember that sometimes they do not fit or look good on us. Our clothes must be comfortable and make us look good. What we can do is to modify our old comfortable clothes so that they look new,” she said.

“This is the same for a new government which does not necessarily mean that it will be good for the people because it has no track record and no proof that it will be better,” the Papar Member of Parliament said.

Rosnah urged the people to think about their future when they choose a leader or the government in an election.

“The mandate to rule is five years, so this means that if you are not happy with your choice, you can change the government the next day, like changing clothes. Choosing a leader is not child’s play,” she said when officiating at the Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) Pesta Kaamatan celebration here.

The event was hosted by Deputy Assembly Speaker Datuk Johnny Mositun who is also PBS Pantai Manis division chief at Dewan Sungkadon here.

According to Rosnah, a person has his or her own conditions and criteria when it comes to choosing a spouse.

“So why not have conditions and criteria too when it comes to choosing a government? What is important here is that we choose a leadership that will ensure a good future for our future generation.

“I therefore urge the public not to be easily swayed or influenced by the opposition who are trying their best to disrupt unity in the state and country as this is not beneficial for all of us,” she said.

With harmony, there is stability and with stability there is development for the state and country, she said.
Rosnah expressed her gratitude to Mositun for his assistance in the constituency.

“Datuk Johnny is a leader who has done a lot in Papar. He is of great help to the elected representatives in this constituency especially in smoothening and reducing the weight of our responsibilities.

“We, the elected representatives, both state and parliament, are thankful that we have friends in Barisan Nasional like Datuk Johnny as their support gives us the encouragement to work harder,” she said.
